Divine Mathematician
“His eyes are on the ways of men; he sees their every step” —Job 34:21 NIV
Every man, every step, every moment. Try to wrap your mind around that. It isn’t as though one can get lost in the shuffle, or slip under his radar. It’s every man, every step, ever moment. He sees it all.
David said it well in Psalm 139: “You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways…you hem me in behind and before; you have laid your hand upon me…Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise up on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. If I say, ‘Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,’ even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you…How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand. When I awake, I am still with you.”
Alone? Never.
Ignored? Never.
Unloved? Never.
How many grains of sand are there on the planet? Lots. And as many as there are, those represent the sum of the thoughts that God has had about me, and you, and every other person who has walked this earth.
Wrap your mind around that. Better yet, wrap yourself completely in that and take on the day in confidence.
Wow.
