stmonica.net (Google Images) Once we get past the visit of the wise men to the home of the child Jesus (sometime around His second birthday) and the subsequent flight to Egypt to escape Herod, we know next to nothing about the childhood of Jesus. Luke 2:40 says: “ And the child grew and became strong; he was filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon him. ” This was said of Him BEFORE the famous scene of the boy in the temple asking questions that astounded the teachers of the law. You are only supposed to be smart about spiritual things after you go to seminary, right? But Jesus never went to Bible College, or Seminary. In fact, He never went to Sunday School. We’d like to assume that because Jesus was God’s Son that He had an advantage over every other kid on the block when it came to knowing “stuff.” Sources of outside the Scriptures attribute to the child Jesus extraordinary miracles, an exercise of His divinity that overshadowed His humanity.
