(Google Images) Every time I read 2 Chronicles 5 I am stopped in my mental tracks by this verse: “ …and the priests could not perform their service because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled the temple of God ” (5:14). What would it be like for God to fill His house with so much of His presence that everything would come to an immediate stop because of it? I’ve never been in a service like that. I don’t think something like that can be orchestrated but if we look at what led up to this momentous event in Solomon's life we might get a clue as to why it happened. 2 Chronicles 3 and 4 describe the building of the temple of the Lord in Jerusalem. Solomon took the plans and the provisions that his father, David, had made and began the project of building a house that would bring honour to God—a place where God’s presence would dwell.
